Aggressively Interrupting the Conversation

I'm Back...

Creating social media posts, online content and blogging is time consuming and frankly vulnerable in this day and age of online bullying. Everyone has an opinion and the anonym

ity provides confidence for online trolls. We know that the online social space is almost impossible to avoid, but is not alway associated with healthy mental health outcomes, so why capitalize on this trend? However, this year I attended a conference where the keynote speaker discussed the importance for Mental Health Experts to "Aggressively Interrupt the Conversation Online", as more and more mis-information circulates from people misrepresenting their opinions as facts, and in his opinion, leading to worse mental health, a divided country, particularly politically. This made me stop and consider my online presence over the last couple years. I have put this part of my business to the side and worked on other ventures, but believe it is time to redirect focus here with clear, research based, trauma informed content for survivors and professionals.

Why I Stepped Back...

If you have read any of my other blogs, you have likely seen my blog about getting Covid-19 in March 2020. My experience went viral, and my blog was read by more than 40,000 people, as people were eager for information about this terrifying blight that had taken over the world. I never gave an update, but my experience with Covid-19 spiraled into several years of health battles, and while I still worked on my practice and focused on speaking and work books, I needed to take a step back from doing so many things. I went to doctor after doctor, arguing that I wasn't well, but my "tests results were normal". It took several years before I found a naturalpath doctor (not covered by my insurance BTW) who not only believed me, asked me more questions and ran more than standard panel tests, uncovering several diagnoses exacerbated by high inflammation, likely stemming from my time with Covid-19. After years of symptoms, I have answers, solutions and have clawed my way back into somewhat normal functioning.

What I'm Proposing...

The client's I work with the most struggle with the overwhelming amount of information and posts about Narcissism and Narcissistic abuse. Sometimes this is helpful, other times this is over-stimulating trying to decipher what is helpful, true and relative to each person. I am committing to a monthly research based blog (minimum) on topics related to Narcissism and Narcissistic Abuse, that will focus on information for survivors, training for practitioners, and public understanding. I want to include my references, links to resources and encourage critical thinking for all readers. And while I usually want to get everything perfect (that's right, I'm a self-identified perfectionist as well) I want to make this series a little more soft, vulnerable and generally easier to read than the usual publications

Sneak Peek...

When I get going about my specialty, I can talk for hours....literally. This topic is so deep, and we are going to go there. We are going to deep dive into "The Origins of Narcissism", before we get into "Pain Points of a Victim of Narcissistic Abuse", how that shows up physically, emotionally, logistically, etc. I want to discuss current research on the topics, what is coming out, limitations and what is still missing. I want to talk about adjacent topics such as coercive control and femicide, and the incredible research coming out of the UK. And I also want to hear from you, what are your burning questions? What information are you having a hard time finding?

What's Next...

If I haven't lost you already, now I need you to get involved. Comment below with questions or topics you want to hear about, share with clinicians or survivors who might benefit, and consider following my social media platforms....I promise to be more active this upcoming year.
